This book is sort of well written and I'm sure in the author's mind it makes perfect sense. I found it to be confusing and rather annoying from the jumps between characters and time lines. It felt like the author took every idea he had and put it all in one jumbled pile of papers and said, "There's the book.". I wish him continued luck in his writing though.

Great novel with a very good story and character development. Not your traditional survival plotlines. Gives God mentality a significant twist.
A very well written book, but very difficult to follow the transition between past and future. The characters are also hard to keep track of. I had a hard time finishing the book. I wanted to quit several times, but made it to the end! Would probably need to read the book again to make any sense out of it. Not going to happen!

Moved at a fast pace with different story-lines to stay interested. Enjoyed the different time periods as well. Once all the pieces comes together it has a satisfying ending.
I picked this book up at the recommendation of a friend as I was looking for a good vacation read. It proved to be a quick, fun, but most importantly entertaining story! Characters are well-conceived and mysterious, and the more their stories unfold the more drawn in you get.
Disparate storylines meander and merge but a common thread runs through them all ~ sometimes trickling and sometimes roaring like the Black Creek of the title, but drawn by fate to spill into one another. This is raw storytelling that doesn't flinch. Episodic narrative presented in cinematic idiom. Good stuff for a rainy weekend.
Really good read at a great value. I have the kindle edition which is very reasonably priced, and I easily would have paid a few dollars more in retrospect.

Interesting storyline swapping focus between different time periods. There is a consistent through-line that ties these all together, but I won't get into any spolier territory. Really smooth pacing, although I read most of it in a short period of time so I didn't have to wait for any reveals.

Overall I definitely recommend the read for anyone who is interested in the fantasy genre- this is well written and easy to get into quickly.
